Chemistry With a Past—and a Future
Founded in 1979 by chemists and industrial suppliers who saw a gap in the market.
Why we exist
Ars Chemica was founded in 1979 by chemists and industrial suppliers who saw a gap in the market. Large chemical companies had impressive laboratories but were not always impressive at answering the telephone.
Traditional distributors offered personal service, but technical depth varied. Ars Chemica was created to combine chemistry with commercial common sense.
The original rule
Our original rule was simple: understand the process before recommending the product. It was sensible in 1979 and remains sensible today.
Over time, we expanded into adsorbents, resins, molecular sieves, activated media and custom formulations. Industries changed, regulations multiplied and supply chains became rather theatrical.

What we believe
We believe in clear specifications, honest discussions and realistic lead times. We also believe packaging should survive transport, a concept apparently still regarded as revolutionary in certain quarters.
The company began while the Queen was still opening factories and graciously pretending to enjoy industrial tours. We cannot claim she inspected ours, but we feel certain she would have approved of the documentation.
